The Community of Madrid presents the 2024 San Isidro awards at the "sweetest moment of the festival."

The Community of Madrid presents the 2024 San Isidro awards at the "sweetest moment of the festival."

After nearly reaching the main entrance yesterday, which he knows so well, Borja Jiménez returned to Las Ventas a few hours later. This time to collect the trophy for the winner of the last San Isidro Fair, awarded by the Community of Madrid . He then left in a hurry, as he will be fighting tomorrow in Ondara, before returning to the Monumental on Sunday for the Corrida de la Beneficencia. Although it may not seem so at times, Madrid continues to produce bullfighters, because the school launched the Sevillian, who is beginning to become a favorite bullfighter among fans, as was evident yesterday with the good Jandillas.

Jiménez knows this well, and thanked the fans for the award, "who have put me in this position." He made his debut at San Isidro in 2024, and "it's an honor to be the winner of my first fair. I still have two more afternoons, so we'll see each other around here," Borja concluded, with his eternal smile on his face. The trophy was presented to him by Carlos Novillo, whom Miguel Martín thanked for his involvement in Las Ventas. "Congratulations to everyone, but especially to Jarocho, who hasn't been announced. This will always be your place," said the director of the Center for Bullfighting Affairs.

Ever since the posters were announced, everyone was missing the most outstanding novillero. There was no agreement on his confirmation, but the bullring is there, waiting for Jarocho to once again bring the stands to their feet with his natural passes. "It's a privilege to collect this award. God willing, I can soon present myself as a matador in this ring, and that I can take home the award for the winner of San Isidro," Roberto expressed his gratitude, also remembering his school, El Yiyo, all the people who accompanied him that day, and the company, which appointed him at that time and will surely appoint him in the future.

In the livestock section, the award for best bull went to Dulce, owned by Victoriano del Río. A darling of extraordinary condition, Borja Jiménez performed one of the best performances of the season in Ventas. The Guadalix breeder praised "the breeders for raising us to an impressive level with great effort, and for making a change in criteria in the selection that has led us to a level today that creates an interest in the bull that emerges with such important runs of presentation and behavior." To his applause, he also mentioned the mayoral of Fuente Ymbro, who won the award for best bull: "Don Victoriano has clearly demonstrated the efforts of the breeders. It is an honor to be able to collect an award in this category."

Before unveiling the tile of Ricardo Gallardo's bulls, the Regional Minister of the Environment congratulated the award winners, predicting that "next year we'll see one of these awards win again." Novillo highlighted the record audiences seen night after night on Telemadrid and other regional television channels, as well as attendance, with large crowds at each event. "The entire bullring is waiting for Borja's grand entrance, and also to see Jarocho again. We're talking about two bullfighters who are the product of Madrid and the boost we've wanted to give to bullfighting," explained Carlos, referring to the fact that Borja came from the Chenel Cup, while Roberto Martín won the Madrid Circuit. "Bullfighting is the essence of our country; it's enjoying a golden moment, and is increasingly being championed by young people," the Minister concluded.
